I was so surprised to see Lil K unabashedly going up to children at the bon dance. She was especially enamored by this 3-year-old girl who played with her like an old friend. In this video they are dancing together to the bon dance music (which you can hear faintly in the background). They played for quite a while and Lil K even invited herself to sit on their blanket and play some more. What a great afternoon for my little socialite!
June 5, 2010 Baby Champuru, at 16 months old, is a master at mimicking us. She started imitating me on my phone a few months ago, but I just caught it on video yesterday. She’s having a very heated one-sided conversation with someone — probably Daddy. Maybe she was having trouble with her cell phone reception? I found this gem in my archives. It’s a video of Baby Champuru, one day old, being cup-fed by a lactation consultant in the hospital. While waiting for mom’s milk to come in, baby usually needs to have some supplemental nutrition – and since there is a concern about nipple confusion when introducing the bottle too early, cup feeding a good alternative. The lactation consultant demonstrates the technique for using a cup (same type that is used to measure and administer medication) to feed the baby formula. It still amazes me how much she has grown and developed in the past 11 months. Seeing this video reminds me how far we’ve come and also makes me wistful for the newborn days. But then again, I also remember the feedings every two hours and am somewhat thankful we are past that stage as well. Sharing with you a few of Baby Champuru’s favorite snacks. What a difference a week makes! I believe strongly that we should support our local economies by buying locally grown produce at farmer’s markets. We are fortunate to have a great farmer’s market in our community (Mililani, Hawaii) that gathers vendors every Sunday morning from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. Besides fresh produce and flowers, farmer’s markets often have prepared foods like fresh baked breads, snacks, and even plate lunches. Find one in your area and check it out.
