Who is Champuru?

Aloha, I'm Donna, known everywhere on the Internet as "Champuru." I'm a Christian, blissfully wedded to my perfect match (the yang to my yin) of 15 years and a stay-at-home mom to my miracle baby, born in October 2008. Living life in Hawaii, less than 5 miles from my hometown, seeking balance in her pursuit of family, faith, recreation, and rest. Read more on the About page.

More Champuru

Dot-Com Days

In the days before dot-net.

New year, new projects

I created a separate section on champuru.net called Champuru Reviews to post reviews on my latest finds.  Prize giveaways will also be featured on this site.  I am currently working on a book review and giveaway that will be perfect to jumpstart your new year’s resolutions, so stay tuned!  Look for the Champuru Reviews badge on the left sidebar to navigate to the page.

I have also created a Project 365 page where I will be posting every silly little photo I take in 2010.  I will also be posting those photos here on the main blog, but I thought it would be nice to have them all consolidated in one place, especially when those photos start numbering in the hundreds!  Again, please find the badge in the left sidebar to be directed to my photos page.

The old is new again

LinkWithin

One of the great things about keeping a journal is being able to go back to it six months, one year, five years down the road and revisit that time in my life.  Reading old entries remind me of what I’ve been through, how far I’ve come, and how much farther I have to go.

I recently installed a widget called LinkWithin which generates related stories at the bottom of each entry.  I’ve been having fun re-discovering old entries and seeing photos of Baby Champuru and how much she has changed over the course of this year.  It really makes me glad that I’ve been relatively diligent about keeping the blog up to date.  It’s my virtual scrapbook and I know it will only become more precious as the years go by and Baby Champuru is no longer a “baby.” *sigh*

Event Planning Ideas

You may notice that I added a section entitled Event Planning Ideas (see top menu bar).  In this section, I’ll be sharing some of the things I learned as a result of the research I did for Baby Champuru’s birthday party.  I’m still organizing my thoughts, so I don’t have anything published there yet — but in the meantime, there are some ideas for Christmas Party games, so if you’re planning for your office Christmas party, check it out.

Foodie or Mommy Blog?

My blog has always been about documenting my life, whatever course it happens to take. Of course, food has always been a part of my life and will continue to be.  But now I’m a mother and love blogging about all things parenting, baby, milestones, etc.  I’m wondering if it’s time to separate the two?  If I create a separate mom blog, I would likely export my conception, pregnancy, and baby archives to the new site and post all future baby-related entries to the new domain.

As my readers, I’m curious to know what your opinion is.  Do you think I should create a separate mommy blog?  (In fact, I already have a couple of domain names waiting in the wings.)  Is it better to have a niche blog – or one that simply documents life and whatever topic that may encompass?

Please leave a comment, even if it’s just a quickie to tell me to keep things status quo – or take my mommy updates elsewhere.  Or if you prefer, send me an email using my Contact form.  Thanks!

Updated

I finally got around to updating my Champuru Videos and Bon Dance Archive pages.
