Lil’ K drew this picture quickly when I dropped her off for preschool. As I was leaving the classroom, she summoned me back and asked me to take this home. I walked back into the seating area where all of the children were busily drawing with crayons. I knelt down beside her.
“This is for you, Mama. Wait for it.”
The first thing she drew was the blue cross. Then she started filling in the details with the black crayon.
“Who is that, K?”
“It’s Jesus,” she replied. His arms were outstretched and I thought it was appropriate that she first drew the cross.
Then she started drawing the figure next to Jesus. With the purple crayon, she carefully added knees, legs, and feet. Then the hair. Purple is my favorite color and she often uses it to represent me.
“Who’s that?”
“That’s you,” she said and handed it to me. “Take it home, okay?”
These drawings, while very simple, are so precious. Maybe I’m reading into it, but I like the symbolism of how she first started with the cross then drew Jesus’ features over it.
One Response to Me and Jesus

Who is Champuru?
Aloha, I'm Donna, known everywhere on the Internet as "Champuru." I was born and raised in Hawaii. I'm a Christian. I'm married to my best friend of 18 years, we struggled with infertility and successfully conceived via IVF (and by the grace of God!) in 2008. I resigned from my coveted "secure" government job to be a work-at-home mom to my 3-year-old daughter. Using my degree in Information Technology and the skills obtained in the marketplace, I started my own business. Now, I work from home, taking clients on a part-time basis, working in my PJ's while the little one sleeps. Life isn't always easy, but it's all good.

Lil’K is so awesome and so is her mom & dad.
