Pumpkin Picking – Waimanalo Country Farms

It was a gorgeous day in Waimanalo. This past Saturday blessed us with perfect pumpkin picking weather. The surrounding Ko’olau Mountains are so green and lush, embracing the farm in its majesty.

The Waimanalo Country Farms is a family-owned farm and everyone we encountered on staff at the farm was very nice and accommodating. They had a petting zoo, hayrides, games, and food booths. You have only one more weekend to enjoy this great event, so don’t miss it. {Visit their website for all the details.} If you attend, be sure to get some fresh squeezed lemonade served in a mason jar, fresh from the farm and cooked on the spot corn on the cob, and freshly baked corn bread. Yes, I realized I used the word “fresh” three times in the last sentence – but it is literally FRESH! You see them squeezing the lemons at the booth, the corn is picked, shucked, and boiled before your eyes, and people were buying up the corn bread as soon as the pan was brought out from the oven! It doesn’t get fresher than that, folks.

The pumpkins were all in beautiful shape and Lil’ K wanted to bring them all home.

Finally, she picked one with character. A bit of green markings at the top differentiated it from the rest.

She picked it up and carried it off. Well, she didn’t get very far with it – after all, it was probably almost a third of her weight.
What a great event to attend to celebrate the season. This will definitely be one of our family’s annual traditions.

Who is Champuru?
Aloha, I'm Donna, known everywhere on the Internet as "Champuru." I was born and raised in Hawaii. I'm a Christian. I'm married to my best friend of 18 years, we struggled with infertility and successfully conceived via IVF (and by the grace of God!) in 2008. I resigned from my coveted "secure" government job to be a work-at-home mom to my 3-year-old daughter. Using my degree in Information Technology and the skills obtained in the marketplace, I started my own business. Now, I work from home, taking clients on a part-time basis, working in my PJ's while the little one sleeps. Life isn't always easy, but it's all good.

1. Donna: I really like your new headline banner, if that is what it is called.
2. Li’l K picked a very nice pumpkin. Now it needs to be carved in time for Trick-or-Treat!
3. That little girl sure is growing up nice.
Wow–the mountains are so beautiful! What lovely pics.

Oddly enough it never even occurred to me that Hawaii might have pick-your-own pumpkin farms. The mountain backdrop is so gorgeous!
[...] We picked our pumpkin at the Waimanalo Country Farms last weekend, but didn’t get around to carving it until yesterday. (At least we carved it before Halloween – not like last year!) [...]
[...] Most children had at least one parent who accompanied them on the field trip, so they set us loose on the farm, allowing us to spend time wherever our hearts desired. Hubby had the day off, so both of us were able to join Lil’ K for the field trip and it was a fun family day for us. Hubby was working the last time we visited the farm. [...]
