Summer has officially arrived and we are feeling the heat here in Hawaii. With more outdoor activities on the agenda, we decided that it was time to get Lil K her first pair of sunglasses to protect those little eyes from harmful UV rays.

We visited our favorite baby store in the Mililani Town Center, Ohana Daze. A few months ago, I tried fitting Lil K for a pair of Baby Banz sunglasses but she wasn’t thrilled about having a piece of plastic strapped to her face. This time, however, she seemed very receptive to the sunglasses. The only unfortunate thing was that they only had one pair left in stock — and it had a camouflage print. Not really what I had in mind. Hubby thought they were cool-looking (of course). I was more concerned about the protective function of the glasses than aesthetics, so we bought it despite the GI Jane image they projected.

We took Lil K walking with the sunglasses and she kept them on most of the way until she started getting sweaty and the perspiration ended up on the nose piece and lenses. The glasses fit very close to the face, so if your child has long eyelashes, they may not care for it. Overall, Lil K seems to like the sunglasses and I’m going to have her wear them in the car, too.
