Who is Champuru?

Aloha, I'm Donna, known everywhere on the Internet as "Champuru." I'm a Christian, blissfully wedded to my perfect match (the yang to my yin) of 15 years and a stay-at-home mom to my miracle baby, born in October 2008. Living life in Hawaii, less than 5 miles from my hometown, seeking balance in her pursuit of family, faith, recreation, and rest. Read more on the About page.

I also wrote an entry previously about our last trip to Chinatown back in January 2008, when I was only days pregnant with Baby Champuru, then referred to as the Snowflake.

One thing to note about Mei Sum that differentiates it from other Chinese restaurants offering dim sum is the courteous service.  Come on, don’t tell me that you haven’t experienced the typically brusque and often pushy treatment from other dim sum cart pushers.  At Mei Sum, our water glasses were never allowed to go empty and the servers offered obliging pleasantries such as “thank you for waiting” and “you’re welcome” when thanked.  Perhaps due to the language barrier or maybe even cultural disparities, I almost expect to be treated rudely at Chinese restaurants, so it was definitely a pleasant surprise.

So, next time you’re in Chinatown looking for some good dim sum, check out Mei Sum.
