“Open your mouth… say ‘ahhhhh…’!”

“Here comes to choo-choo train! Choo-choo! Choo-choo!”

These are things I never thought I’d catch coming out of my mouth, but seriously, they do seem to work. Today, I managed to feed Baby Champuru rice cereal without her tongue getting in the way. She actually opened her mouth (most of the time) and let me feed her rice cereal without a protest. It appears that her tongue thrust reflex is starting to go away. I realize that one day does not make a trend, so we’ll have to see how she does in the days ahead.

She’s also sitting up semi-assisted and is tripod sitting. As I watched her sitting nearly upright by herself today, I couldn’t help but to feel my heart breaking just a little. She has come such a long way since birth and her newborn days are definitely history. No wonder people have more than one child. Baby days are just so precious and I can imagine wanting to recapture that by having another baby. Unfortunately for me, having a second baby is probably not an option. Lacking fallopian tubes (so it won’t happen naturally) and about $13,000 to do another IVF, it looks like Baby Champuru will be a “lonely only” like I was. So, I’ll just have to document, photograph, and videotape her as much as possible. Poor Baby Champuru, she’s going to be the most well-documented child apart from the Jon & Kate kids.
