Newborn Photo Session

Published by Donna at 8:03 pm under baby

Today, we journeyed to the windward side for Baby Champuru’s newborn photo session with the awesome Lisa Hoang of Windwardskies Photography. As newbie parents, Hubby and I are still a little uncertain about handling the baby, but Lisa is an old pro with infants and children. She dealt with Baby Champuru’s fits of fussiness with ease and posed her in the most adorable props. I can’t wait to see the result!

While Lisa was setting up the next shot, I took a quick picture of baby as she waited patiently for her next photo op. She was just too precious not to steal a shot. (Sorry, Lisa!)

We were out of the house for six hours today and baby handled the long outing quite well. Shortly after we got her in the car seat for the ride home, she started crying hard — with actual tears, not just dry-eyed wailing. I hadn’t seen her cry so violently before and was alarmed. Hubby pulled the car over to check to make sure nothing was pinching her on the car seat and that it was secured properly and wasn’t too tight. Satisfied that she wasn’t in pain, we started the drive back home again. Since we hadn’t eaten lunch yet (it was nearly dinner by this time), we decided to drive-thru at a nearby McDonald’s. In the parking lot, I checked her diaper and, lo and behold, a marvelously massive poop greeted me. I’m still not quite comfortable changing doo-doo diapers, but managed to do a quick and clean change in the backseat of my car. I suppose when it’s time to step up, the maternal instinct actually does kick in — just like everyone says it does.

Haha! Krislyn has that “Yes, I AM adorable aren’t I?” look. “Now where’s my latte skim no foam?!?”

Yes! I got great at changing Papaya in our trunk (the Liberty had a pretty flat trunk so it worked) and the backseat can be a quickie lifesaver. Those carseats and rumbling cars sure can get a baby going - wait for her first in-carseat blowout diaper!

oh yes, be ready for at least one leaky/explosive diaper at some point. hehe but good job momma! you’re a natural. =)

Oh she is so adorable! I love the “shot you stole” hehe, she looks contemplative, like she’s already thinking!!

I am steeling myself for the challenge of dealing with poopy diapers…it is something I have managed to avoid so far, even with my godsons (Kris changes when we’re babysitting them, hehe). Anyways, I wanted to ask if you’ve been using the bum genius (was it that brand?) and how you’re finding it. We’re considering cloth, and the bum genius looks good and sounds pretty easy to deal with.

Aww, poor thing! And she was SO good about not going on my blankets and furs- really, the best baby ever! I feel so bad you guys didn’t eat all that time- I would’ve happily offered you something.

Thanks again for being willing and agreeable models! Your family is truly beautiful and blessed, and I’m honored to call you my friends. I can’t wait to watch Krislyn grow into a beautiful, spirited little girl.

she looks like an angel! so happy for you both that she’s finally here. hubby is a good daddy…making sure she wasn’t in pain! so cute!

hey you’ll be a pro at changing poo diapers anywhere and everywhere…girls are a little trickier than boys…they have more, well “folds” where as boys just have the man bags…

cherish the newborn moments because they fly by oh so fast…that’s probably why i can’t keep up with my blog either!

    take care

Oh, she is sooooo precious! Babies just melt the heart. Yes, you’re both on your new journey and doing fantastic. Every day, I am sure, is such a learning experience. The Bible does say, “Come to the Lord as a child.” That means child-like faith at every age that we are—always willing and obedient to learn. Blessings to you all.
