Any Day Now

Although tomorrow is my birthday, we will be busy with family literally all day, so Hubby and I decided to celebrate a little early by going to dinner at Outback Steakhouse tonight. I would’ve liked to celebrate with a big bacon with mochi and cheese okonomiyaki, but that would surely have sent my blood sugar levels soaring sky high. I suppose that’s a postnatal indulgence that I can look forward to.

Observation: Outback Steakhouse has the most uncomfortable seats for third trimester pregnant mamas like myself. We were seated in one of the booths, which essentially has wooden benches with a padded seat. However, the depth of the seat is far too wide, so in order to lean back, I had to slouch. Normally, I’d opt to simply sit straight up, leaning forward slightly, but being that my preggie belly was in the way, this was not a comfortable option. Mental Note: Next time, request a table with actual chairs instead of a booth.

Besides the uncomfortable seats, I was intermittently plagued by Braxton Hicks contractions and pelvic pressure throughout the evening. It reminded me that I am very close to my due date and it could literally be any day now.

Despite the minor discomfort, I managed to thoroughly enjoy dinner: spinach and artichoke dip, caesar salad, bloomin’ burger, and a sinful sundae. I brought half of the bloomin’ burger home and shared the dip and the sundae with Hubby.

We enjoyed each other’s company and appreciated the quiet dinner together, knowing that moments like these will be few and far between very soon.
