Who is Champuru?

Aloha, I'm Donna, known everywhere on the Internet as "Champuru." I'm a Christian, blissfully wedded to my perfect match (the yang to my yin) of 15 years and a stay-at-home mom to my miracle baby, born in October 2008. Living life in Hawaii, less than 5 miles from my hometown, seeking balance in her pursuit of family, faith, recreation, and rest. Read more on the About page.

Dot-Com Days

Black Belt Baby

Lately, I’ve been feeling Baby Champuru moving in the womb quite a bit. It’s an odd feeling, but reassuring at the same time.

Sometimes my tummy twitches or something hard (like her head?) pokes out of the side of my stomach. But more often than not, it’s a quick snap kick to remind me that she’s there or a rolling motion as if she were moving to get into a more comfortable position.

It’s not fun when she gets upset, however. On the morning I took my glucose tolerance test, I drank a whole bottle (100 grams) of glucola for the second day in a row. (Read the entry entitled Failed Attempt and you will understand why.) Soon after downing the sugary drink, she started kicking me, hard, in the groin. Yes, it is as uncomfortable as it sounds and it startles me every time.

My little snowflake, be nice to mommy… she’s giving up ice cream and chocolates for you.

Sometimes I really think Baby Champuru is training to be a black belt in Karate in there — and more often than not, using my bladder as a punching bag. This inevitably causes me to make a beeline to the nearest restroom.

Yep, she’s kicking butt and taking names and the first one on her list is mine.
