In my head?

Published by Donna at 10:05 pm under conception / pregnancy

First of all, let me just say that I am so touched by all of the kind comments and e-mails I have been receiving from you all. It’s so cool to hear from folks that I never knew were reading my site and following along with my travails and triumphs. And of course, the old faithfuls who have been with me since I was at champuru.com, you are all special to me, too! It’s funny because I shared my big news with the Internet even before I got a chance to share it with many of the folks I know in real life. How typical of me.

I don’t know if it’s all in my head, but I am already starting to feel pregnant. I’m sleepy, sloth-like, hungry, and fat. In fact, my largest pair of “fat pants” are already too tight. I attribute the “fat” part to the combination of the hormones, lack of exercise, and increased caloric intake. Nevertheless, the reality is that I’m starting to outgrow my current wardrobe and there’s no sense in going up a size. I figure, I might as well just take the plunge and start buying elastic waistband maternity pants already.

Looks like I’ll be making a stop at a nearby maternity wear store this weekend before I find myself relegated to wearing my pajamas to the office. I wore a pair of plain black pajama pants to Bible study tonight because none of my jeans fit! I hope no one noticed.

    Congrats again Donna!
if your waist is the main thing that makes your jeans not fit, you may want to consider buying the Bella Band. It’ll extend the time before you hvae to buy maternity pants.

Also, for maternity clothes, how would you feel about 2nd hand? I found a bunch of stuff that worked for me that way. Catepillar Kids used to sell but not anymore. There’s Children’s Cottage in Aiea behind Cutter Ford (Hekaha St). Not sure if there’s other places out there. And if that’s not your thing, OldNavy has maternity too…though sometimes its a challenge finding anything in there.

    Have fun shopping! =)

Pajama pants…you crack me up! Mostly because if I were ever to get pregnant I would probably do the same through the second trimester!

No advice on the maternity clothes, but I may have forgotten yesterday to say WOW! :-)

If you think it’s bad now, just wait a few more months. I once had to cut a slit down the front panel of my maternity pants because it got so tight so fast. But you know what? It’s the greatest feeling in the world. Congrats and best wishes. You’re going to be such a cool mom.

    the first trimester makes you
    super tired because your body
is making a brand new ORGAN for
    the baby—the placenta!
it truly is a miraculous process.

rest well. walk (or more) if you can!

Oh my goodness, I am loving these comments and everyone’s feedback! Thank you for making me smile. Every one of you! :)

@shari: Will let you know when it’s time to go shopping en masse. Right now, I just need a pair or two of elastic pants for my bloated days.

@mars: Thanks for the tips. I will definitely check out the Bella band and the Children’s Cottage to see if I can pick up a few pieces and save a few bucks. How was the Bella band? It doesn’t look very comfy.

@April: I would *LOVE* to wear pajama pants everywhere, but I watch “What Not to Wear” and that is a cardinal sin according to Stacy and Clinton. Heck, they should do a “What to Wear — When you’re Pregnant” show! I could be their first victim!

@Mama Penguin: Wow! It’s definitely true, being pregnant is an amazing and exciting time, even if we have to deal with bigger waistlines and minor details like that. :)

@cyn: So that explains why I am so sleepy these days! Making an organ is hard work!

@Sophia: Thanks for posting the recipe! I’ll try and make it soon! I might have to substitute the choco chips for carob chips. I wonder how that would be?

    Congrats, Donna!
I’m so happy and excited for the both of you as you begin another new beginning in your life! I say, eat whatever you crave - just in moderation for the not-so-healthy stuff. I craved meat like crazy when I was expecting - we always had frozen hamburgers in the freezer for those late night snacks! :o)
I liked Old Navy for maternity wear…especially the pants!

Congrats again! Lotsa love to the snowflake(s)

@kgirl98: Thanks for the note of congrats! I haven’t been craving anything in particular yet. It will be interesting to see what I start craving in the upcoming months. Thanks for the tip about Old Navy, I’ll check them out, too.
