Meds, Meds, Meds

Published by Donna under conception / pregnancy

I’ve been taking daily injections of lupron since December 8, wearing Climara estrogen patches since December 17, started taking Dexamethasone pills tonight, and will begin a 2-week regimen of Dorxy antibiotics starting tomorrow. Intramuscular injections of Progesterone start on January 1 and will continue daily for the next 3 months if the frozen embryo transfer (FET) is successful. Medrol will also start on January 1 and will end on the day of the FET, which is scheduled for January 4. On the day of the transfer, I even get to add a bit of Valium to the cocktail to ensure that my uterus is relaxed and ready to accept the snowflakes.

Needless to say, I’m on a lot of drugs right now and will continue to be until January 4. Everything kicks up a notch starting tonight, so I am praying that my body will tolerate it well. So far, so good — with the exception of the killer migraine from hell that I had the day after I started the lupron injections. Luckliy, I haven’t had a headache like that since then, just low-grade tension headaches which I can cope with it.

Another blood test and ultrasound on Monday, so I’m praying that everything is on track for the FET in January.

Now, excuse me while I pop some pills.

Going wireless

Published by Donna under techie

I’m thinking of setting up a wireless network in my house mainly because I’ll be on bed rest for a week and I’d like to be able to surf the web, blog, and twitter from my iPod Touch.

Admittedly, I’m not too familiar with wireless and would love to get some feedback on the best way to do it. Would you use a wireless router? If so, what brand? etc. The router/access point would be in the room adjacent to my bedroom, so range shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

Tips, tricks, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! You can either leave a comment here or contact me by filling out the form to send me an e-mail. Thanks in advance.

Leave Papers Signed

Published by Donna under conception / pregnancy

I put in my leave papers today. I’m taking off from January 2-11, 2008.

I’m making comprehensive notes for my replacement, because I am definitely going to be UNREACHABLE during those two weeks. After all, I’m directed to be on bed rest — which means I’m supposed to be resting — and not thinking about work. I intend to make work the farthest thing from my mind during the period while I’m encouraging the snowflakes to attach themselves to my uterus.

Whenever people hear that I’m going on leave, they ask me if I’m traveling somewhere. Vegas? Japan? No, Kapiolani Hospital. Then, I feel compelled to spill the entire story about going through in vitro fertilization, yada-yada-yada. There’s a measure of anxiety about telling people about the procedure. It’s almost akin to telling people that you’re pregnant before the end of your first trimester. Because, what if… you know. What if.

But then again, I’ve been blogging about it all this time, so what’s the difference? I guess I just don’t want to be known at the office as the “girl who can’t have kids” should the procedure not be successful.

I know it’s silly. And, where the heck is my faith? I know that whatever happens it’s because there is a reason. I am hopeful that the Lord will bless us with a child and so I’ll continue to pray everyday for those little snowflakes until they’re transfered to my womb where they’ll hopefully take a liking to it. So much so that I can carry them to term and give birth to healthy and happy bab(ies). Multiples are a good possibility, but I’ll be overjoyed with just one. In fact, I don’t know if I can handle more than one! But, God knows how much we can handle and won’t give us more than that.

The countdown begins. As long as my next two appointments go well, in just over two weeks, the snowflakes and I will be reunited. Let’s hope I can make them cozy enough to make them want to stick around.

Snowflakes are my frozen embryos which are currently being stored in a lab somewhere, awaiting to be transferred to me on January 4, 2008.

Bells & Whistles - champuru vlog #27

Published by Donna under daily, vlog

I set off yet another alarm, so here’s another vlog entry. Man, I am on a roll.

Here I am futting around doing vlogs when I should be finishing my gift wrapping and Christmas cards. Typical.

Anyway, enjoy the madness.

Dialog about the vlog

Published by Donna under daily, love

These are the kind of conversations we have in our household:

Me: So, do you want to see my new videolog?

Hubby: No.

Me: Ehhhh?

Hubby: Wait, let me get situated first. I’m getting my clothes ready for tomorrow. Do you think my life revolves around you?

Me: Yes.

Hubby: Okay. What was I thinking?

5 minutes later after watching the video…

Me: So… did you like it?

Hubby: Do I have a choice?

Me: Maaaaan!

Hubby: Nah, bebe, just kidding. That was the bomb diggity!

Champuru vlog #27 is forthcoming — as soon as the good folks at Revver review and processes my video.

So far, so good - champuru vlog #26

Published by Donna under conception / pregnancy, vlog

WARNING: This is an in vitro fertilization (IVF) update, so be prepared for TMI (too much information).

Honestly, I know that some of what I say isn’t of interest to the public at large, but I vlog to chronicle this time in my life. Someday, when I’m on the other side of this experience, I will look back at these vlogs and marvel at what I’ve been through. It’s a way of memorializing life and everything about it. Even the mundane.

Wallet Woes - champuru vlog #25

Published by Donna under daily, vlog

DISCLAIMER: All the stuff in the background, that’s not trash — it’s packages upon packages of Christmas gifts yet to be distributed. Yours could be in that very pile!

BONUS FEATURE: For some insane reason, it took me 37 takes to get through this entire videolog. (I think it’s because Hubby was in the room and he was making me nervous.) He thought it was pretty funny and suggested that I create a blooper reel. So, at the end, I share a few outtakes from the making of this vlog just for fun.

I wrote of my wallet woes in the past. You may think that I am intent on making a grand entrance when I enter a room, but it’s not my vanity that sets off bells and whistles wherever I go: it’s my Coach wallet. This issue has caused me much consternation for many months, but the frequency at which we’ve been at the mall during this Christmas season has only exacerbated my frustration. This videolog entry is a tribute to the end of my wallet woes.

Twitter

All of this is attributed to a random Twitter comment I made and the subsequent responses by Twitter pals kimonostereo and typezero3. Who ever said that Twitter isn’t useful? Twitter pals have saved my bacon on more than one occasion! Do you Twitter? If not, you should!
