Two funny things happened this week:
1. While I was filming at Haleiwa Beach park, a surfer chick came up to me and asked, “excuse me… do you speak English?” I get that ALL the time. Do I look that bobora?
2. Hubby and I went to a small, locally-owned toy store this evening. A guy behind the counter manning the register said, “hi Donna” just as I walked in. I returned the greeting, but wasn’t sure who he was. For a split second, I thought it might have been someone who knew me from my blog. (It’s happened before.) Then, I realized that he looked familiar but I couldn’t remember his name or where I knew him from. When he finally relented and gave me his name, it finally clicked. He was my high school classmate, Steve. I hate it when people recognize/remember me right off the bat and all I can do is look at them with a blank stare. How embarrassing! I’m surprised that he recognized me, since I literally gained 30 lbs. since graduation.

Re: #1 How can one respond to that? Nah I only speak da kine li’ dat… Besides, you don’t look like a pumpkin at all.
You didn’t know Steve worked at the toys and joys in pearl city?…I use to bump into him there when I was dating Shane…we use to go there a lot…
Heheh I know what you mean about #1. I can recognize people’s faces but I can hardly recall their names. I should make use of the camera function on my phone for picture contacts. >_>
@Mark From Hawaii: As soon as I open my mouth, people realize I’m not a Japanese national. But, at first glance, so many people mistake me for a tourist. As for looking like a pumpkin, I guess I must’ve ate too much over Thanksgiving.
@Shari: No, I didn’t know that about Steve. He hasn’t changed/aged much at all since high school. Must be the fun work environment that keeps him young.
@DaFerret: That’s a great idea about the cam phone idea!
