I played hooky from karate this morning to get my client work done — and to catch up with some work from my “real job.” My breakfast usually consists of either: 1) oatmeal, or 2) Carnation Instant Breakfast. Both are usually eaten in haste and with very little enjoyment. Today, after sleeping until my body woke itself up, rather than being jarred awake by an alarm, I felt wonderfully refreshed. I decided, why not take a few minutes to make a nostalgic, albeit decadent, breakfast to start the weekend off on the right foot?
Sure, it’s not the healthiest choice, but sometimes I feel entitled to allow myself little indulgences like this, especially after a particularly hard week. And boy, was it yummy.
Most times, I feel, simple is best.

Looks ono. Lemme guess: Packaged ochazuke with rice and tea and vienna sausage a la satojoyu.
