It's a strong reminder to take the time to sit back and put our lives in perspective every now and then. It's easy, when we're busy being busy, or busy worrying about things, to let the little things pile up into one large, scary heap. But if we stand back and take stock of our lives, we see how small the "big" things become, and how big the "small" things are. I too, cannot imagine life without my parents. I suppose it's one of life's experiences that we are not expected to understand until the time comes. But in the meantime, we can be there to support others who are going through it and take what we can from the experience to make sure the time we have now is quality time.
