Wanted: Ideas and Motivation

Published by Donna at 7:25 pm under daily

I don’t quite know what it is.

Lately, I’ve been having a hard time writing. Anything. Including simple <140 character Twitters, answering e-mail, or responding to the comments that kind folks like you make here on the blog or on my Flickr photos — which I totally love! I read everything and appreciate it, I just can’t seem to muster the energy to respond. How pathetic is that?

It’s even a strain for me to sit here and write this right now and I don’t know why.

It seems like the video medium has overtaken me and sapped any semblance of ability and motivation I once had to tap out a few choice words on my keyboard. Thinking about the next video concept is more appealing to me than writing a long-winded entry about my thoughts on life. Although I am not a big fan of watching television, it seems that I have become a HUGE fan of making television. That is, the small tube: 320 x240, to be exact.

Now that bon dance season is over, I need to find other things to shoot video of. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Drop me a comment here or click on the “Contact Me” link on the banner above. I welcome your ideas.

No more “champuru vlog, bon dance editions” until 2008! Just the thought makes me sad.

Actually… I do have a tardy version of the Mililani Hongwanji bon dance vlog to edit and post. And, maybe some footage from the “Dancing Fools” post-bon dance BBQ party which is coming up as soon as I can organize it.

Sorry, Donna, I’m looking for my own motivation to get my podcast going again! However… I’m glad to hear I didn’t miss the party (assuming I’m invited)… if I am, can SF come too? (no promises, but I’m trying to get us into each other’s activities a little)

Sis just let me know I’ll help you organize the BBQ…like you can send the invite out, and I’ll take the calls for people to call back things like that…so just let me know…

You’ve been doing this a lot longer than most people. You know these things come in waves, so if you’re in a dry period right now, it’s not a big deal.

As for video suggestions, I have a few ideas, but they’ll get me beaten up.

Hey I know how you feel. Back in early 2001 or so I was addicted to making stuff with iMovie. I think I literally iMovie’d myself out. I did a ton of special projects, weddings, comedy bits, music videos and after a while I was just burnt out.

Now I hate doing videos. I can do it but I just don’t have the patience to sit and do it for myself, much less for anyones project. It probably has a lot to do with very tight deadlines, hours spent rendering/encoding on equipment that just couldn’t do it (back in the early 2000’s). I know it’s faster now but I still have little patience to do it. It’s much too tedious and mind numbing and I get that just from doing websites. I don’t need another brain killer. LOL.

Hopefully you won’t burn out on video.

Hmmm lessee… Last update to my blog site was July 25th. Since then I’ve posted 9 videos. I’m definately not a blog person in terms of writing daily or even weekly deep thoughts. So don’t get down on yourself Donna; I predict that you’ll bounce back by the end of this week.

I noticed that the editing of your videos has continuously improved. You are definately a perfectionist in everything that you do.

Hey Donna, how’s this for a subject of either a video or blog: The rocks of Wahiawa! You know, the birthing stones and the “miracle” stone across from Wahiawa Waste Water Treatment Plant.

Hey Sis…I think that’s the stone that pastor Tim was talking about today…wasn’t it? hahaha
