Bon Dance Practice
Today, my pupule bruddah Keet and a few friends went to Rissho Kosei Kai to help teach Okinawan bon odori in preparation for the upcoming bon dance on July 20 and 21.
For posterity sake, I brought my video camera and filmed the practice. If you’re planning on coming out to the RKK bon dance and you need a refresher on the Okinawan dances, you can check out these videos. Keith and I are the ones in the middle of the circle wearing the hapi coats. (Just keep in mind that this was only practice.)

Awesome videos - thanks for posting Donna! I like the “sobriety walk” dance (Asadoya Yunta) ;), Asjimili Bushi (gotta represent), Jintubido (good cardio workout) and Tenyo. We have our VBS down the street on Friday the 21st but we’ll try to make it after (around 8:30ish). Saturday will be late as well as we have a graduation party to go to first (also at our church).
Okay, I may have lied. It actually looks like I can make the bon dance on Saturday, last one I can go to before my trip.
Awww Ryan! your going to miss the good bon dance on the 20th and 21st…
Mark from Hawaii: Looks like you got it, Mark! Hope to see you in the bon dance circle at Palisades!
Ryan: Hope to see you there! I’ll have your diet pepsi coupon in tow!
