You know you’re getting old when…

Published by Donna at 12:23 am under daily

Some lessons learned from a trip to the Fun Factory: You know you’re getting old when…

…you walk into an arcade and it takes a good 5 minutes to figure out that the video games don’t take quarters anymore.

…you remark, “man, it is LOUD in here.”

…it takes less than 5 minutes to blow 5 bucks. (I can make $5 last longer in Vegas!)

…you give yourself a migraine headache after 2 rounds of playing the taiko drumming game.

Sad, but true.

So I was someplaced, and they had one of those “top 50 retro games” machines. each play was a quarter. Classics like PacMan, DigDug, Frogger, etc, etc. And Yeah, I defintely had that Old Feeling when I blew through $5 in a matter of minutes. It will be cheaper to just buy that collection (or something like it) for either the PS2 or the computer.

I know i’m getting old too…but I knew the game machines no longer took quarters at fun factory about 3 years ago…LOL…

I never tried the taiko game yet…I think i would suck at that now since it’s been over 15 years the last time I touch one of those taiko drums…hehe…sounds like fun though…i’m going have to drag Donna to fun factory very soon…haha

Funny post. It’s been years since I last put quarters (or yen) in an arcade game machine too.

I’m trying to remember but Castle Park may have been the last arcade where I’ve spent a lot of time actually playing games like that. …unless you count Chucky Cheese at my kids’ birthday parties. :)

you know you’re really getting old (as in me) when it’s been years since you’ve dropped off the kids at the video arcade. ;)
and, i simply feel really old, knowing that i remember the excitement when i played my first video game, which was “pong”! *sigh*

Here for prosperity, as told in person last night:

I knew I was old when I went to a club awhile ago (like, years ago, I think it was Ocean) and at about 10 pm I thought to myself, “It’s hot, it’s crowded, it’s loud, it’s smoky, it’s past my bedtime… I’m going home.”

Thats what Dave and Busters is for!! They have some of the old school games along with the new ones. I don’t know if you drink but you can do that too. (@_@)
