Dry Spells

Published by Donna at 10:38 pm under daily

Content flows in waves around here. As you saw with the influx of several videolog entries in the span of a few days, I felt particularly inspired during the holidays. Truthfully, inspiration and content flows when time is ample — such as in the case of 3 and 4-day weekends. Oh, gloriously long weekends, how I cherish them so!

During the work week, it seems that the creative side of my brain goes into hibernation, so as not to concern itself with the more mundane details of life, conserving its energy for the wonderful weekends.

I recall hearing a sermon in which a pastor lamented about people who “live for the weekends” and how everyday is full of possibilities and opportunities. Of course, I felt the long, bony finger of conviction pointing in my direction as he spoke. In my defense, I don’t feel as though I cease to live Monday through Friday; it’s just having to spend 40+ hours at the office pales in comparison to the delectable freedom of a weekend.

Another 3-day weekend is coming up. I wonder what exciting things will transpire, aching to be captured in pixels?

    “The delectable freedom of the weekend.”

    You should have been an English major. Who needs to eat?

    Hi Donna! We all live for the weekends, and that’s not just the Saturdays and Sundays… but pretty much every day of the year that does not require our presence at work. I wish you all the best for 2007! :)

    @scrivener: Aren’t weekends absolutely delicious?!

    @marvin: Amen, brother! Thanks for the note! Happy new year to you, too!

    @Christopher: What a great analogy! It’s something that I will have to take your word for, since diving is just a distant dream for me. I still need to learn how to swim! I am very interested in someday doing underwater photography, though. Someday!

    @Shari: Believe me, when you’re around, my weekends are always fun!
