Who is Champuru?

Aloha, I'm Donna, known everywhere on the Internet as "Champuru." I'm a Christian, blissfully wedded to my perfect match (the yang to my yin) of 15 years and a stay-at-home mom to my miracle baby, born in October 2008. Living life in Hawaii, less than 5 miles from my hometown, seeking balance in her pursuit of family, faith, recreation, and rest. Read more on the About page.

Vlog #1

It appears that when I get nervous, I get a stiff upper lip. I mean literally.

And, for the record, I’m not sporting a lisp. There’s some weirdness going on with my audio.

With my excuses disclaimers out of the way, this is my first vlog entry, just for laughs and to commemorate the completion of my Christmas shopping for 2006! Hooray!

  • Neato! Hope to see more! Nice editting job. I wish I could record video in Jusco but the security doesn’t like that =(
Maybe I should do it like a hidden camera type deal…

  • While “vlog” is a word I will never accept, I must say this one is really nice. This makes ME want to give it a try, even.

  • PS: Why did you blur half of the Price Busters sign?

  • linda

I really enjoyed watching it! :) it’s good to finally put a voice to the person behind champuru.

    Mele Kalikimaka!

  • Yay! Just yay! Welcome to the (clears throat) vlogosphere!

  • susan

You are so talented, Donna. This is so cool. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your vlogs.

  • bri

very nice Donna! you look really good on camera :-) ok, so maybe you were a little nervous, but you still made a nice appearance.

  • Merry Vloggers

For fans of longtime escribitionist, photographer, and worshipper Donna, Christmas came a little early…

  • lindy

wow … more creative things by donna!! you are so amazing ..you are most definitely in the wrong business! gee, was everyone at Ala Moana?? i’m surprised it wasn’t really crowded. i’m looking forward to seeing more vlogs !!

  • WOW! That was very cool. I haven’t been to Pearlridge in YEARS! Thank you so much for sharing your shopping adventure…I am so looking forward to more of your Vlogs!

  • Cool stuff Donna. Did you edit the video in iMovie or in Final Cut Pro?

  • ju

    V. cool! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  • can i just say how much i love your vlog?! you don’t look nervous at all but you need to smile! :) did you also cut your hair off??! or is it layered like that?

    anyway, mele kalikimaka!

it’s not fair that you guys are wearing slippahs and shorts while i’m sitting here in fleece wear.

Great job! Mele Kalikimaka all the way from Charlotte, NC!

  • Thanks, everyone, for your kind comments and encouragement. This is a fun way for me to keep practiced with video editing — oh, and to keep the creative juices flowing. Or, in my case, trickling.

@Christopher: Please drop me a line if you decide to post a vlog entry! (Especially if it includes Jusco! I’ve always meant to go, but never had the chance while I was in Okinawa.)

@scrivener: I’d LOVE to see you do a vlog! I miss your podcasts. And I didn’t deliberately blur the Price Busters sign, that was thanks to video compression.

@Linda: Thanks! :) I’d love to see an LK vlog!

@Ryan: You are my vogging inspiration! (And thanks for the mention on your site!)

@bri, susan, lindy, april, ju, and Joy: Thanks so much for dropping me a comment! I really appreciate it! Feedback keeps me going!

@Richie: I used iMovie this time. Maybe will try Final Cut Pro on a later attempt.

@Winnie: Yep, I chopped my hair. (You can see it in Vlog #2.) It’s funny because you wish for balmy weather and I am here wishing it was cold enough to wear my lovely aiyah scarves! (Well, there is Vegas in February to look forward to!)

  • Well done – I predict that you will soon become one of the more popular vloggists (?) on YouTube. Haha I was there at Pearlridge last Friday. I had to use 2 gift cards for Music Mac before they closed their doors for good. I managed to get a guitar stand, polish/polish cloth, a string winder, and Elixer strings with about $.24 to spare, lol! I was a little bummed because my Mom REALLY wanted a mochi maker and there’s none to be found – even on-line. There’s a story behind that…

  • :) I would be too nervous to create my own vlog!! I’m loving yours.
