Happy Veterans Day

Published by Donna at 9:56 pm under love

To all veterans and their families: happy veterans’ day!

Hubby’s deployment had certainly given me a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices that our soldiers and their families make for our country and its citizens.

Hubby on convoy in Iraq
Correction: Hubby riding in a secured area in Iraq
(sometime in 2004)

It’s been about a year and seven months since Hubby returned from his tour of duty in Iraq. The brief, echoey phone calls from abroad, careful preparations of care packages, worry for his safety, and the dull ache in my chest all seem like a distant memory. On days like today, I purposefully bring those feelings to remembrance so that I never forget the sacrifice that his service required. And, it makes me so very grateful for others, to this day, who are making the same sacrifice. God bless you, this is your day.

    Hi babe!
Actually, this was taken in Iraq within our camp (a secured area). Notice there is no armor on this vehicle. That and I wouldn’t be taking pictures on a actual convoy. Not recommended.:)Luv ya!

Happy Veterans Day! Thank you to all the veterans - especially those on active duty and those who’ve made the ultimate sacrifice in preserving our freedoms. God Bless America!

We had no armor back in my days. 362 to be exact. Of course near the beginning of the invasion we had the plastic doors still on, but took those off once we settled down in Tikrit. We would’ve taken more pictures but no cameras, took months to get film, heat destroyed film, or IEDs blew it up. To be honest though, I think we only lost two rolls to that last excuse.

    Belated Hug-a-Veterans Day.

Indeed, Donna, please pass on a hearfelt thank you to your husband for risking his life in serving our country and keeping us safe! I’m very glad he came back to you safe and sound.

One of Daniel’s World Geography homework assignments was to “find a veteran and thank him for his service” on Friday. I thought that was a pretty cool assignment! Oh, and it had to be done in person, too.

    Happy to report, mission accomplished!

Hope you both had a nice Veteran’s Day!
