Best Laid Plans
Thankfully, the xD is gone, but my pain in the neck is back. (You can take that both literally and figuratively.)
On the bright side, tomorrow is FRIDAY. And better yet, it’s a Friday before a 3-day weekend. Oh, how glorious! I live for 3-day weekends. I am so ecstatic! (Side note: Anyone who gets as excited about long weekends as I do has a serious problem.)
At the doctor’s visit on Tuesday, my doc took 4 vials of my lifeblood and a urine sample to run a battery of tests to make sure my stomach acids aren’t burning holes in my stomach lining and that my innards are working properly. He also prescribed an acid-reducing medication to help alleviate the burning in my upper abdomen. But, before I can fill the prescription, he says that I must have a negative pregnancy test.
Pregnancy test? Ha.
I told him that I was most definitely not pregnant. But, he said it was standard procedure to do a pregnancy test on all females before prescribing this drug. If it’s not safe to take if I’m prego, then I’m not sure if I want to take it at all. Who knows, maybe I could get pregnant? One can hope.
This whole “having kids” issue is giving me a bit of consternation. Aside from the conception part, which is hard enough, what happens if/when we do have a child? Then, the real work begins. The logistics of parenthood are overwhelming! I would definitely need to get my hands on some project management software and create a “Parenthood Project Plan” with timelines, resources, expense sheets, and task lists. Egads!
But, when I sit down and really think about it, there are a lot of things that are not within my control. Conception and kids are definitely out of my hands. Even the best laid plans don’t always work out the way we think they will. But somehow, things always work out. I really believe that.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
— Romans 8:28

Everyone always forgets the “according to his purpose” part of that verse. I’m glad you’ve quoted the whole verse. I’ve been finding a strange comfort in it too, lately. And I usually hate that verse because of its overuse.
I am guilty of quoting this a lot, too, but it really has given me hope during times when it seemed like there was no way that anything good could come out of the situation. But, hindsight is 20/20 and it’s neat to look back and see how things work themselves out. And even if it wasn’t an entirely pleasant experience, humanly speaking, there were lessons that were learned and growth that resulted.
I’m sure you’ll come up with an effective flow chart and Projects timeline to effeciently manage your resources and raise your chile in a prompt, effecient and consistent enviroment.
