Aloha, I'm Donna, known everywhere on the Internet as "Champuru." I'm a Christian, blissfully wedded to my perfect match (the yang to my yin) of 16 years and a stay-at-home mom to my miracle baby, born in October 2008. In the days before dot-net.

I see the light!

I met with my academic counselor this afternoon. She gave me the best news I’ve heard in a long time: my remaining credits (15 — and counting!) can be accomplished by CLEP or DANTES exams. What does that mean for me? It means that my current course will be the last one I will take for my undergraduate degree! HOORAY!

Just in time, too, because the group work was beginning to really drive me insane. The mere thought of having to endure 5 more classes was really taking its toll on my attitude. Seriously.

This also means that I can shave off about $6,500 off my total school expenses. At $70/exam, it’s a mere fraction of what I would be paying if I had to actually take the courses. Aside from the financial investment, saving my sanity is also a good thing.

My counselor mentioned something about graduate school. My selective hearing must have shut off right about then because I don’t remember a thing about what she said.

November 8… I think I can, I think I can, I think I can…

Then, the next challenge is to stay motivated enough with the self-study to prepare for the exams so that I can pass them and actually collect my degree. My goal is to take 1 per month. We’ll see if that actually works out since it’s largely dependent on how difficult the material happens to be.

I see the light at the end of the tunnel and it’s getting brighter!
