It ended up that I worked at home for the last couple of hours of my shift today. Mom called my cell phone to tell me that they were at the grocery store and their car was stalled. I promptly left the office to rescue them with 18-foot jumper cables in my trunk and a good battery under my hood. To make a long story short, Hubby showed up and helped me jumpstart the car without incident. Dad’s car started and all’s well that ends well.

So, instead of driving back to the office to work 2 hours only to enjoy the travails of Friday rush hour traffic on the way back, I opted to take advantage of my VPN connection and work from home.

4:30 is quitting time, so I closed my laptop and Hubby and I headed to the theaters to beat the Friday night crowd.

For the first time in years, we paid “General Admission.” On September 6, 2005, Hubby received his official release from the military. Honestly, I’ve been waiting for this day ever since I received word that he would be deployed to Iraq — which fell on another significant day: November 27, 2003, our 10th wedding anniversary.

However, now that Hubby is officially a “civilian,” we have to pay civilian prices at the box office. I was horrified to see that rates had increased to a whopping $8.00!

“I can join the military again,” Hubby offered, only half-jokingly.

“Just so we can get cheap movie tickets? Are you nuts?”

“That’s worth it, isn’t it?” replied Mr. Patriotic with a big grin.

“Crazy,” I mumbled.

We decided to see “The Exorcism of Emily Rose.” (…despite what the ticket says. Ouch, someone get spell check for that ticket machine!)

Ever since my co-worker mentioned the movie, I found myself morbidly fascinated by the story. Tragically, this was based on a true story - but surprisingly, I left with a good feeling about the outcome.

All I’m going to say is that I better not wake up suddenly at 3:00 AM.

So was it good and scary? I have been tempted to see this myself…of course, in the luxury of my own home where I can shriek without disturbing others!

Congrats on Hubby’s release! That must be such a relief.

Oh, and if you buy the passes through the Entertainment Guide, etc. you can save a bit :)

Congratulations on officially getting hubby back from the military. We’re all proud and thankful for his service, but… now it’s your turn again to have all of him to yourself!

Ditto what Bri said. And I’m too wimpy to see that movie (lucky you got a shot of that silly movie ticket). I’ll probably go see the Jim Jarmusch film next.

oh and, for some reason, it never dawned on me that someone actually has to type in the movie name for the tickets. i guess i always thought the little ticket machine just knew what was playing.
