A Kinder, Gentler Time
I have been working on a slideshow as a favor to my Father who will be celebrating his 50th class reunion on Lana`i in a couple of weeks. The old black and white photographs make me nostalgic for a time that was before mine, when no one locked their doors and you knew everyone in your little neighborhood.
My Dad has fond memories of his years on Lana`i. Tales of hunting and fishing, camping on the beach under the moonlight, and hot summer days picking pineapples.
Seeing Dad’s youthful face with his shy smile made me realize the passage of time. I bet he never thought 50 years would go by so quickly.
A 30-something Christian girl, blissfully wedded to her perfect match (the yang to her yin) of 14 years. Living life in Hawaii, less than 5 miles from her hometown, a slave to her mortgage payment, but seeking balance in her pursuit of family, faith, recreation, and rest.
Oh, Donna how special this project must be for you! I love to look through old photos myself, unfortunately my sister took possession of all of them and I no longer have access to my parents’ childhood memories!Cherish this time to bond with you father in a way that you would miss without these kodachrome memories!
