Pondering Motherhood
John Watson’s photos and endearing stories of fatherhood makes me want to have children.
Although I cannot honestly say that motherhood has been a keen desire of my heart since I was a litle girl, as I browsed through John’s Flickr Photostream, it hit me like an epiphany. The tender beauty of childhood and the joy that comes with raising and nurturing a child of your own.
John even captures some not-so-blissful moments like a shot of his son’s tearful terrible two’s fit. But even those are precious.
I’m not naturally the maternal type, but if God would give me a chance, I would sure do my darnedest to be the best mom I could possibly be. If I could be half as good as my own mother or my mother-in-law are, then I’d be in great shape.
Perhaps this is the year to really start trying. After all, we’re not getting any younger and we all know that you need all the energy you can get to keep up with those little ones.

i think you’ll make an awesome mom, donna. and, yes, it’ll change your life completely, for the better!
Wow, those are awesome photos. Thanks for sharing the link!
From a non-maternal mother’s perspective, I can assure you you have nothing to worry about. It all comes more naturally than you could ever expect. And it is wonderful, even the tough moments.
I will be jumping for joy when you announce you’re expecting. I hope it’s soon
We’ve been talking about starting a family for the past 6 months…but I’m always finding some reason why we should postpone - career, wanting to be in shape before baby arrives, finance, etc.
I’ve come to the conclusion that for myself, planning is not the way to go when having kids - there will always be some reason why we should wait. Like marriage, it simply needs to be something you both want - and then just jump into it!
