Dot-Com Days

In the days before dot-net.

Anti-Social, moi?

I was just pondering the recent phenomena of online networking sites.

Admittedly, I am usually quick to jump on the e-bandwagon and will indiscriminately sign-up on sites like Global Pau Hana, Friendster and MySpace if a friend invites me to join. However, like my offline personality, I tend not to collect a lot of “friends”and will find myself with probably a dozen or so contacts on my friends list. It’s almost enough to give me an inferiority complex when I see other people with lists numbering in the triple digits.

Jang Su Bar-B-Q

In my quest for the perfect Bi Bim Bap, we found ourselves at the Jang Su Bar-B-Q where it was rumored that they had Bi Bim Bap in the hot stone pot. Luckily, I was not disappointed. Continue reading Jang Su Bar-B-Q

Unrefreshed

I’ve been feeling a tad bit run down lately. I sleep 7-8 hours a night, but yet I wake up feeling so unrefreshed. Needless to say, I’ve had this problem for as long as I can remember. Perhaps one of the few things that is able to remedy this morning lethargy is generous amounts of exercise.

I guess the 2 mile walks around the neighborhood haven’t been adequate. Either that or I am coming down with something. I haven’t succumbed to a cold ever since I had my tonsils yanked back in January. *knock on wood*

My muscles are tight, my lower back ached, and I felt fatigued all day. Nothing a dose of Alleve couldn’t fix – at least temporarily. Maybe it’s time to make an appointment with my shiatsu therapist again. Yup, it’s about that time.

Tobi had a vet appointment today. The doc said that he’s overweight – by about 10 pounds. Yikes. It appears that he’s mirroring his mommy. I gained nearly all of the weight back from before I started exercising. I’m 2 pounds away from the heaviest I’ve ever been. Now that’s a sad testimony.

Maybe I’ll need to start going to the gym after all. Obviously, just being a card-carrying member of 24-Hour Fitness isn’t enough to keep one fit. Bah.

Day #11,647

“Teach me to number my days, that I may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12)

Lately, I have been realizing how fleeting our time on earth can be. In the blink of an eye, weeks, months, years have passed and I barely even noticed.

Another translation states it this way: “Teach us to use wisely all the time we have.”

It prompted me to ask myself: have I been using my time wisely? 11,647 days. How many of them are simply forgotten memories? How many of life’s lessons were learned, only to have fallen by the wayside in the busyness of the day, thus requiring a refresher course at some point in the future?

It was then that I decided to number my days. Memorialize “moments” — big and small. Jot details that seem insignificant now, but may lend insight when looking with hindsight.

Our days are numbered. May we use every moment wisely.
